Skåne is a region that has plenty of innovation environments in a big variety of industries and regional authorities of Skåne have developed an action plan specifically for regionals bioeconomy until 2030. The aim of the strategy is to gather actors and improve the prospects for transition into an improved bio-based economy.
Skåne’s regional bioeconomy is estimated to comprise more than 3,000 companies with more than 33,000 employees in total. The turnover is approximately EUR 10 billion. Food processing is the largest sub-sector for bioeconomy in Skåne and consists of about 1/3 of the total bioeconomy in the region.
