The Wood Region is an open test bed with a machine park to quickly develop prototypes with 3D technology and wood-based biocomposite.
The Wood Region is located in Sysslebäck and focuses on sustainable additive manufacturing with biocomposite as material. Here is one of the world's largest 3D printers, but also printers in smaller sizes for different needs, as well as equipment for developing new bio-based materials, processing wood and working with lamination and other finishing.
BIO COMPOSITION FOR 3D PRINTERS
Biocomposite is a mixture of bioplastic and wood fibers that has been left over from the production at local sawmills. It is a strong and recyclable material that helps to reduce the amount of fossil raw materials in various products.
When the product is no longer used, it can be ground down and become a new composite material and reused for a new design. It can hardly be more circular than that!
